I was born in Haarlem in the Netherlands. As teenager I started writing poetry and took up photography. I studied science in Amsterdam and had a career in the development of scientific instruments. I am now retired and live in Kenilworth in the UK. I’m the husband of a lovely lass from Scotland, father of two wonderful daughters and have an adorable granddaughter.
For the last few years I have spent much of my time creating digital abstract art. You can trace my journey through photography, poetry, and digital art via my historical website ‘Pictures and a thousand Words’. My creative drive to make images goes back to the day when, at the age of about 16, I picked up a camera. I looked at the world around me and saw shapes, lines and textures, colours and light and tried to bring these together into one special image: something beautiful, intriguing, and exciting. I also searched for a photo that gave me the feeling I’d captured something unique. More than half a century and many thousands of photographs later I am still searching. And since I discovered digital art a whole new world opened up for me in which I continue my search for that special image. How? look at the page ‘How I work’.
